Today we are starting something new on the blog: a series of short articles focusing only on a single topic, typically a tip on how to make your life with Kaleidoscope more productive, or, as in today’s case, more enjoyable.
How to change the icon of a repository in Kaleidoscope?
Kaleidoscope 5 comes with a new Repositories view. Repositories can have a custom icon and/or a colored background.

There are 3 possible way to customize the look:
Add Icon File
The easiest way to have a custom icon for all members of your project is to add a file called icon.png to the root of your Git working directory. You may also use Git features like an ignore to keep it local.
Paste an Icon in Finder
As a local-only alternative, paste a custom icon in the Finder Info panel.
In both cases, the icon will also subtly influence the background of the repository.
Add a Color Tag
In addition, when you add a single color tag in Finder, the background of the repository tile will adopt that color.
Not all changes may propagate immediately. When in doubt, restart Kaleidoscope to see the updated look.
